Prior to my life as an attorney, I was a businessperson managing a building construction firm in California. During this time I wore many hats; I attended planning meetings before government agencies responsible for zoning changes and building permits, worked with architects during the design stage, negotiated contracts with prospective owners of structures, obtained financing for projects, and supervised onsite construction. Sometimes I was the one who swept the floor of a construction site when everyone else went home at night! All of this has proven to be invaluable to an understanding of the business world (and that being “the boss” is not always what it is cracked up to be).

As an attorney, I have comprehensive experience writing civil trial motions, memoranda, arbitration briefs and transactional documents. My training in the area of taxation law has made me especially detailed oriented when working with statutory law and the corresponding interpretive case law. In addition, my pro bono work through Philadelphia’s Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project (“CBAP”) made me acutely aware that clients usually have crossover issues which must be addressed.

Perhaps as important as the above, I have had broad cross-cultural opportunities. I was born in the Republic of Panama, spent three years of my childhood in Anchorage, Alaska, and traveled to almost every place between the two. This has taught me to quickly grasp any situation presented.
